Walking by the Spirit

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part
of our lives.
Galatians‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? Galatians 5:25 tells us that it is to follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. This means that we are to submit to the Holy Spirit's guidance and control in our thoughts, words, and actions.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and He dwells within every believer. He is our Comforter, Counselor, and Guide. He is also the one who empowers us to live a holy life.

When we walk in the Spirit, we are not controlled by our own sinful desires. Instead, we are led by the Spirit to live a life that is pleasing to God. This means that we will produce the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

So how do we walk in the Spirit? Here are a few tips:

• Spend time in prayer and Bible study. The more we are exposed to God's Word, the better we will be able to discern the Spirit's leading.

• Obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit tells us to do something, we should do it, even if it is difficult or uncomfortable.

• Yield to the Spirit's control. We need to surrender our own will and desires to the Spirit. This means that we need to be willing to do what the Spirit wants, even if it is not what we want.

Walking in the Spirit is not always easy. There will be times when we will be tempted to follow our own sinful desires. But when we choose to walk in the Spirit, we are assured of His guidance and power.

Here are a few examples of what it looks like to walk in the Spirit in different areas of our lives:

• Relationships: When we walk in the Spirit, we will be kind, patient, and forgiving in our relationships with others. We will also be willing to serve others and put their needs before our own.

• Work: When we walk in the Spirit, we will be honest, hardworking, and trustworthy in our work. We will also be willing to go the extra mile and help our colleagues.

• Finances: When we walk in the Spirit, we will be good stewards of our money. We will be generous with our giving and avoid debt.

• Recreation: When we walk in the Spirit, we will be selective in our choice of entertainment and activities. We will avoid anything that is harmful or dishonoring to God.

Walking in the Spirit is the key to living a victorious and fulfilling life. When we submit to the Spirit's leading, we are assured of His guidance, power, and blessing.

In summary:

• Walking in the Spirit means following the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives.

• The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer and empowers us to live a holy life.

• When we walk in the Spirit, we produce the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
