The Power of Focus

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT

This verse is a powerful reminder that our focus in life should be on the eternal, not the temporal. It is easy to get caught up in the troubles and challenges of everyday life, but we must remember that these things are only temporary. The things that truly matter are the things that will last forever, such as our relationship with God, our love for others, and our hope for the future.

When we are facing difficulties, it can be helpful to fix our gaze on the things that we cannot see. This means focusing on our faith, our hope, and our love. It also means focusing on the promises that God has made us in the Bible. When we know that God is with us and that He has a good plan for our lives, it can give us the strength to persevere through any trial.

It is also important to remember that the things we see now are only temporary. The problems and challenges that we face today will eventually pass. But the things that we cannot see, such as our relationship with God and our eternal life in heaven, will last forever.

Here are some practical ways to apply the message of 2 Corinthians 4:18 to our lives:

• Make time to pray and read the Bible every day. This will help you to focus on God and His promises.

• Spend time with other Christians who can encourage you and support you in your faith.

• Look for opportunities to serve others. This is a great way to show your love for God and for others.

• Don't give up when you face difficulties. Remember that God is with you and that He will help you through.

• Keep your focus on the eternal things. Remember that the things we see now are only temporary, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

When we live our lives with an eternal perspective, it makes the troubles of this world seem less significant. It also gives us hope and strength for the future.

In summary:

• Focus on the eternal, not the temporal.

• The things we see now are only temporary, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

• Fix your gaze on faith, hope, and love.

• Remember that God is with you and has a good plan for your life.

• Don't give up when you face difficulties. Keep your focus on the eternal things.
