God’s Encouragement
But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us...
2 Corinthians 7:6 NLT
In this verse, Paul is writing to the Corinthian church about his joy and encouragement at their repentance. He had previously written a harsh letter to them rebuking them for their sin, and he was worried about how they would respond. But when Titus arrived with news of their deep longing for Paul, their sorrow over their sin, and their zeal for the Lord, Paul was overjoyed.
This verse is a reminder that God is always there for us, even when we are discouraged. He is the God of all comfort, and He knows how to encourage us in our darkest moments. He may not always send us a Titus, but He will always send us His Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us.
Here are a few ways that God encourages us when we are discouraged:
• He reminds us of His love for us. (Romans 8:38-39)
• He assures us of His forgiveness. (1 John 1:9)
• He gives us hope for the future. (Romans 5:3-5)
• He sends His Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us. (John 14:26)
• He uses other people to encourage us. (Proverbs 17:17)
If you are feeling discouraged today, remember that God is with you. He loves you, He forgives you, and He has a good plan for your life. Turn to Him in prayer and ask Him to encourage you. He will not let you down.
Here is a short prayer that you can pray when you are feeling discouraged:
"Dear God,
I am feeling discouraged today. Please help me to remember Your love for me and Your forgiveness. Give me hope for the future and send Your Holy Spirit to comfort and guide me. Use other people to encourage me, and help me to trust You even when I don't understand.
Thank You for Your love and faithfulness.
In Jesus' name, amen."
