God is always with us

You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth.
Psalms 74:12 NLT

Psalm 74:12 is a powerful statement of faith in God's eternal kingship and his power to bring salvation to the earth. The psalmist, Asaph, is writing in the aftermath of the destruction of the temple by the Babylonians, and he is struggling to understand why God would allow such a thing to happen. But even in his grief, Asaph can't help but remember all the ways that God has been faithful to his people in the past. He remembers how God delivered them from Egypt, how he parted the Red Sea, and how he led them to the Promised Land. And he knows that God is still the same God today.

The phrase "You, O God, are my king from ages past" is a reminder that God is not a new god, but a God who has been faithful to his people for generations. He is the God who brought salvation to the earth in the past, and he is the God who will bring salvation to the earth in the future.

The phrase "bringing salvation to the earth" is a reminder that God's purpose is to save the world. He did not create the world just to leave it to its own devices. He created the world to be his kingdom, and he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to save the world from sin and death.

The destruction of the temple was a terrible tragedy, but it did not destroy God's kingdom. God's kingdom is not a building, but a people. And the people of God are still here, even after the temple was destroyed. We are the ones who carry on the mission of bringing salvation to the earth.

Asaph's words in Psalm 74:12 are a reminder that we can always trust in God, no matter what happens. He is our king from ages past, and he will bring salvation to the earth.

In addition to the above, here are some other thoughts on Psalm 74:12:

• The phrase "bringing salvation to the earth" reminds us that God's purpose is to save the world. He is not just a God of wrath, but also a God of love.
