The Power of God's Strength

... and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God.        1 Samuel 30:6 NLT

In 1 Samuel 30:6, David's men were so angry and bitter about losing their families and possessions to the Amalekites that they began to talk of stoning him. David, however, found strength in the Lord his God.

This passage teaches us a valuable lesson about the importance of finding strength in God when we are facing difficult times. When we are feeling overwhelmed or hopeless, it is easy to give in to despair. But if we turn to God, He can give us the strength to overcome any obstacle.

David knew that he could not rely on his own strength to get through this difficult situation. He knew that he needed the help of God. So he went to the ephod, which was a sacred garment that was used to inquire of God. He asked God if he should chase after the Amalekites, and God told him to go.

David and his men went after the Amalekites and were able to defeat them. They recovered everything that had been taken from them, including their families. This story shows us that when we find strength in God, we can overcome any obstacle.

There are many other examples in the Bible of people who found strength in God when they were facing difficult times.

For example, when Joshua and the Israelites were about to cross the Jordan River, they were afraid. But Joshua told them to be strong and courageous, because the Lord their God would be with them. (Joshua 1:9)

When the apostle Paul was in prison, he was able to find strength in God. He wrote to the Philippians, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)

These are just a few examples of how people in the Bible found strength in God when they were facing difficult times. If you are facing a difficult time in your life, I encourage you to turn to God for strength. He will never let you down.

Here are some practical ways to find strength in God when you are facing difficult times:

• Pray. Talk to God about your problems and ask Him for His help.

• Read the Bible. God's Word is full of promises of His strength and power.

• Spend time with other believers. Being around other people who trust in God can help you to stay strong.

• Serve others. When you focus on helping others, it can take your mind off of your own problems.

Remember, you are not alone. God is with you and He will give you the strength you need to overcome any obstacle.
