Prayer:
Dear Lord,
With hearts filled with your love, we come before you today. Your words in Hebrews 6:11 resonate deeply: "Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true."
We confess that we sometimes struggle to live up to this ideal. We may get caught up in our own lives, our own needs and desires. We may forget to extend the same love and compassion that you so freely offer us.
But today, we recommit ourselves to your call. We pray for the strength and the grace to love others consistently, as long as life lasts. We pray for the wisdom to see opportunities to offer kindness, empathy, and support. And we pray for the courage to stand up for what is right and just, even when it is difficult.
We know that by loving others, we draw closer to you. We become vessels of your love in the world.
And as we love, we also nurture our own hope. We begin to see the world through the lens of your love, and we become more confident that your promises will be fulfilled.
So help us, Father, to live lives of active love. May our actions reflect the depth of your love within us. May we be instruments of your peace and hope in the world.
We pray this in your holy name, Amen.
