GODLY GOAL SETTING

DO YOU HAVE A CLEAR SET OF GOALS WITH A WRITTEN PLAN FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENT?

YOU BECOME A CREATOR WHEN YOU START WRITING GOALS. With goals we create the future in advance, we create our destiny and we shape our lives.

DESIRE IN LATIN MEANS “OF THE FATHER.” That means the thought process regarding my desire is given me from above and with that comes the ability to achieve it.

GOALS MUST BE INSPIRING ENOUGH to create a motion and drive on the inside of us that makes us want to jump out of bed every morning. THIS IS THE POWER OF GOAL SETTING.

Thoughts are things. WHATEVER WE FOCUS ON CONSISTENTLY WE EXPERIENCE IN OUR LIFE. What you focus on you will feel, it becomes real to you. As you think you create or manifest. You have to have a consistent focus on your goals. (PROV 23:7 AS HE THINKS IN HIS HEART SO IS HE.)

GOALS GIVE US PURPOSE AND DIRECTION
1 CORINTHIANS 9:26 I RUN STRAIGHT TO THE GOAL WITH PURPOSE IN EVERY STEP. I AM NOT LIKE A BOXER WHO MISSES HIS PUNCHES.

Instead of guiding the Israelites along the direct route from Egypt to the Promised Land, he took them by a longer route to avoid fighting with the Philistines. If God does not lead you along the shortest path to your goal, don’t complain or resist. Follow him willingly, and trust him to lead you safely around unseen obstacles. He can see the end of your journey from the beginning, and he knows the safest and best route. EXODUS 13:17 WHEN PHARAOH FINALLY LET THE PEOPLE GO, GOD DID NOT LEAD THEM ON THE ROAD THAT RUNS THROUGH PHILISTINE TERRITORY, EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS THE SHORTEST WAY FROM EGYPT TO THE PROMISED LAND. GOD SAID, “IF THE PEOPLE ARE FACED WITH A BATTLE, THEY MIGHT CHANGE THEIR MINDS AND RETURN TO EGYPT.”

God’s ultimate goal for us is to make us like Christ (1 John 3:2). As we become more and more like him, we discover our true selves, the persons we were created to be. How can we be conformed to his likeness? By reading and heeding his Word, by studying his life on earth through the Gospels, by being filled with his Spirit, and by doing his work in the world.

10 STEPS TO TURN DREAMS INTO GOALS:

1. REALISE GOD WANTS YOU TO WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS, DREAMS, VISION (HAB. 2:2)
2. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
3. KNOW WHEN YOU WANT IT
4. LIST THE REWARDS / CONSEQUENCES OF REACHING / NOT REACHING YOUR GOAL
5. IDENTIFY MAJOR OBSTACLES THAT COULD KEEP YOU FROM ATTAINING YOUR GOALS
6. DETERMINE SKILLS YOU NEED TO ACQUIRE TO REACH YOUR GOALS
7. IDENTIFY LIKEMINDED PEOPLE, GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR SUCCESS
8. VISUALISE YOUR GOALS
9. PREPARE AN ACTION PLAN
10. PUT YOUR GOALS WHERE YOU CAN SEE THEM DAILY

SUCCESS COMES FROM TAKING THESE INITIAL STEPS AND FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH THE ACTIONS SO THAT AT THE END YOU CAN REAP THE REWARDS. LIVE WITH PASSION!

LET US CLOSE WITH THIS PROMISE FROM GOD:
PSALM 37:4 DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART
